Stipends
T-shirts are not only fun, they also help identify our group in a crowd. Our camper's safety is a #1 priority. Matching t-shirts help chaperones keep the group together on days when we travel to pray at planned parenthood, visit the cemetery of the unborn, or participate in our service day at the Rose Garden Home Mission.
Each camper also receives a resource pack. This drawstring backpack contains various supplies and resources, including
A "Field Guide" containing the camp schedule, readings for Mass, various prayers, note paper and more,
A few mini-books on pro-life topics such as apologetics or scientific facts,
A fetal model that they can use to demonstrate the humanity of the unborn,
Other resources such as brochures and info cards about local pregnancy centers, after abortion support, abortion pill reversal, "fun-facts" about development in the womb, etc. that can be used for sidewalk counseling, or just sharing the facts with friends and schoolmates.
Cost should never prevent anyone from accessing the resources and education they need to be formed for the work they feel God is calling them to. We offer full and partial scholarships to families who request them.
Scholarships
Speakers
Each year, we invite several national and/or international speakers to present at Mary's Pro-Life Bootcamp. The average cost for each speaker is between $1,000 and $4,000. While speakers do their best to offer us the best price possible, this is what many of them do for a living, and most fly in from across the country- or from another country. This is the greatest cost associated with the camp, and is absolutely essential to provide our youth with the best education possible.
Food
Misc. costs
All meals and snacks are provided to our students and volunteers during Bootcamp. In addition to financial donations to aid in the purchase of food and snacks for campers, it is also possible to donate and supply a meal! Many prayer groups, KoC councils, and other groups donate a meal and often donate their time, too, by bringing and serving the meal. This is not only extremely helpful to our volunteers, it is also encouraging to the campers to know that they have the prayers and support of the larger community.
T-shirts and resource packs
And of course, there is always the misc. category. These vary from year to year but often include popcorn for the movie night, craft supplies for service projects, local speaker fees, water balloons, flowers for the cemetery, electronic equipment (which needs maintenance/replacement every now and then), and other miscellaneous and incidental expenses.
While many Priests choose to serve out of the generosity of their hearts and not accept a stipend, we always offer a stipend because we know that some of them rely on it for a great portion of their sustenance. It is an honor to offer a small gift to the men who bring us the greatest gift of all: the Eucharist.
did you know?
On average, Mary's Pro-life Bootcamp costs between $5,000 and $10,000 to put on each year...
just for the High school camp.
Mary's Pro-life bootcamp relies 100% on donations. Our registration fees do not cover the expenses associated with the events, so that our camps can be affordable and accessible to as many youth as possible.
